Today's CAS challenge took us to this Pinterest picture for inspiration http://pinterest.com/pin/231935449530738465/. It brought to mind a couple of Indiana farmland sites I pass on my travels....one is a blue barn that I love which the teal shutters reminded me of, and the other is a barn with beautiful leaves along the side that looks a lot like the insp pic. So, I tried to take all three ideas and meld them into one. I started by taking a piece of white cs and doing the faux wood technique with using direct to paper swipes using: Bashful Blue, Baja Breeze, and Island Indigo. I then stamped with the Weathered bg stamp in Indigo for the crackle. I cut this into a 2 inch strip. I then cut my white piece 4x5 1/4" and stamped my foliage inking with More Mustard and thumping with Cajun Craze and Riding Hood Red. I added some Pool Party sponging. I took a pencil and marked the 2" edge then fussy cut my leaves and adhered both pieces to a Pool Party base. I used a Cajun Craze marker to ink first the "happy" then the "birthday" and omitted the balloons from my sentiment.
*Just remembered that I also used a tissue to swipe some Whisper White over the top of the blues before I overstamped with the crackle.

Let me catch my breath. That weathered panel that you CREATED just took mine away! I took the cheater's way and used DP paper. I am so in awe of your technique and talent. I'd love to see that barn!

Wow, wow, wow! Beautifully done, Gail. Thank you for telling us all the details of how you created that 'barn wood' panel. I was contemplating another card that focused on the teal wood and now you are giving me new ideas... TFS.
